Chess coach Dimuthu Abewardhana represented his country Sri Lanka during several international Chess tournaments. He reached to the 7th place in Asian Junior Chess Championship 2001. After his competitive career he taught chess to students in Colombo for years and later to the Sri Lankan Army.

Chess is the most popular intelligence game in the world and the second largest ‘sport’. In many European countries, chess is a required course for students. Chess as an independent culture, has a function of competition, education, scientific research, culture, entertainment, art and science at the same time. By playing chess, children could cultivate their vision, improve the decision-making ability, improve math, logic reasoning, three-dimensional space thinking, helping to improve their ability of organization, as well as creativity, analytical ability, training children to get rigour, order, and rationality as well as allow children to build their confidence and temperament.
